About Me

Hi, I’m Stephanie, the artist and creative hands behind Sew Sustainably. To me  sewing is more than just stitches and seams—it’s a way to tell a story. I love to breathe new life into forgotten materials - to create with purpose.

(Me all glammed up)

I spent many years in tech, first as a computer programmer and then as a computer science teacher, but my heart has always been drawn to the grounded, soulful art of sewing.

Today, I teach others how to sew with sustainability in mind, focusing on upcycled leather and textiles. I believe that sewing sustainably should not come at the expense of making something beautiful that stirs the heart and feeds the soul.

My workshops and online resources are designed to help others master sewing leather on a home machine, incorporate recycled materials into their sewing projects, and sew with a deeper appreciation for craftsmanship and the environment.

At Sew Sustainably, I invite you to rethink what’s possible with a sewing machine. Whether you’re an experienced sewer looking to add leather work to your skill set or a sustainability advocate eager to transform old garments into something new, I’m here to guide you.

Let’s sew with purpose, create with care, and make a difference—one stitch at a time.
